The Course

The Ultra Endurance Run is 162km; the run starts at 12 noon on the 29th March 2008 in Keilor Village on the Old Calder Hwy and finishes in the bayside town of Indented Head on the Bellarine Peninsula.

The course follows the Maribyrnong River for the first 30km, this section of the course is mostly river trail and apart from a couple of steep climbs and descents it is a fairly flat section. The running surface is a mix of sand tracks and bitumen paths.

The next 25km is very flat and sees the course pass under the West gate Bridge and wind around the Strand through Newport and Williamstown then onto the open beach trails and wet lands of Williamstown and Altona eventually winding along Skeleton creek and in to Sanctuary Lakes Resort.

From Sanctuary Lakes Resort the course heads out Point Cook road past the airbase onto aviation road then Duncans road into Werribee. It follows Synott Street over the Werribee River and turns left to Bulbans Road. Staying on Bulbans road until it meets Edgars Road. Turning left in to Edgars road and heading to Little River. From Little River the course joins the old Melbourne road via McLean Street and heads south to Lara. This section of the course is mostly flat with small undulations; at Lara the distance reaches 100km.

At Lara the course continues onto McClelland Ave and turns into Watt Street then into Nasmyth Street from Nasmyth Street it continues along the service road and under the North Geelong over pass onto Shell parade.

Continuing on shell Parade to Seabeach Ave then turns into Madden Ave and onto the Esplanade hugging the Corio Bay coast line around to Corio Quay road and on to McLeod St then joining the running trail around Western Beach and onto Eastern Beach.

From Eastern beach the course heads through Eastern Gardens up Boundary Rd to Carr St then turns left onto the Ballerine Rail Trail. Continuing the Ballerine Trail through Leopold, Curlewis and onto Drysdale. From Drysdale the trail continues toward Queenscliff crossing Andersons Road to Swan Bay Road briefly then left on to Banks Road before joining back up with Andersons Road. Continuing along Andersons Road to Manifold Road and right onto Bluff Road at St Leonards.

From St Leonards the course winds around the foreshore to Indented Head finishing near the yacht club.

162km in 24 hours...
